With heavy hearts, we share that our beloved Peter Boxall Sr., the heart and soul of the Boxall family’s festive endeavors, passed away shortly after the conclusion of the first Canadian Congress in 2023.

Dedicated to spreading joy to everyone he met, he left an indelible mark as the true embodiment of Santa’s spirit. After attending numerous congresses in Bakken, Dad preferred a shady spot where children instinctively gathered, forming joyous queues. He would cleverly appoint a Danish child as an “Honorary Canadian” to handle event activities, allowing him more time to connect with the young visitors—many of whom came to call him “the real Santa” for the warmth and authenticity he brought to every interaction.

In later years, the cozy White Horse retreat became a gathering place for Dad’s storytelling sessions with friends Gunnar from Sweden and Fred from Norway. Over steaming cups of coffee, they crafted magical moments that etched lasting memories into Bakken’s history. A heartfelt sign there now proudly reads “Santa Peter Canada,” the final vestige of the original WSCC.

To celebrate Peter Boxall’s 90th birthday and fulfill one of his lifelong dreams, the Boxall family worked tirelessly to bring this cherished congress to Canada for the first time. The inaugural event was a resounding success, filled with joy, connection, and festive spirit—and everyone was deeply grateful that he lived to see his dream come to fruition. As we bid farewell, his spirit lives on in the timeless tales of joy he crafted in the hearts of all who knew him. The Boxall family looks forward to continuing this tradition, honoring his legacy while creating lasting memories and spreading the magic of the holiday season for years to come.
